Manzano Sandia

g018

Citrullus lanatus. We found these melons being dry-farmed in the Manzano Mountains, southeast of Albuquerque. They are likely a type of the popular Charleston Grey watermelon released in the 1950s. Elongated fruits are 10-20 inches with a pale red, sweet flesh. Very tasty! Contents: ± 15 seeds (1.5 g).

This variety is in low supply and we are currently able to make it available only to Native Seeds/SEARCH members (with a two packet limit) and through the Native American Free Seed Program.
