Penstemon pseudospectabilis

A favorite of hummingbirds and butterflies this penstemon produces flower stalks up to 3" high with vibrant pink flowers! Drought tolerant and happy in dry well-drained soils low in organic matter, it also adapts easily to the garden setting. Plant fall to early spring. Showy rose/purple flowers, a deeper pink than the common Penstemon parryi. Seen in desert canyons and washes in Arizona and southern California. Grows at 2,000-7,000'.
