Sacred Datura

Datura wrightii

Also known as jimsonweed or moonflower, this beautiful plant is native throughout the Southwestern US.  It has a large sprawling habit with wide triangular flowers, and can spread several feet wide and 2 feet tall.  Large night-blooming flowers draw sphinx moths as pollinators.  All parts of the plant are poisonous, so keep away from young children and pets.  A great trap-crop for tomato hornworm.  Prefers full sun and well drained soil; reseeds easily.
