    • Zea mays.  A short season, high elevation corn grown with irrigation at 8,000' in northern New Mexico. Large kernels are pale to dark blue, husks and cobs are often reddish.  The farmer hand ground this variety to make atole.

    • Origin: high desert, about 8000' elevation
