Guarijio Red

Maiz Dulce landrace. Slender cobs with redish yellow ears. Red color of kernels will intensify as corn ripens past the milk stage and drys down. Harvest when light in color for optimal sweetness. From Sonora, Mexico. Grow only with midsummer rains in the low desert due to day-length requirements. Typical of other corn varieties from the Guarijio people, the stalks are tall and reach up to 8-10 feet. Approx. 13g/50 seeds per packet.

This variety is in low supply and we are currently able to make it available only to Native Seeds/SEARCH members (with a two packet limit) and through the Native American Free Seed Program.
