Callen grew up in NY state, picking berries and mushrooms with his grandparents every summer. A naturalist at heart, his knowledge about plants comes from a lifelong interest in learning via experience.
He has worked with several projects throughout the country including Midwest Pages to Prisoners, Food Not Bombs, collectively run bookstores, vegetation management and volunteering at NS/S. As an employee, he now wears many hats within the organization – distribution, outreach, gardening, and volunteer coordination.
